NEUROMODULATORS

Neuromodulators are drugs that temporarily reduce movement of muscles that cause wrinkles. Some patients see results as soon as four days after injection but full results are seen after 2 weeks. These drugs are indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines (Glabellar lines) in adults age < 65 years old and may also be used for off label purposes such as crowfeet, forehead lines, masseters, etc.  These drugs can only be used by health care professionals experienced in the injection of botulinum toxin. The optimal dosage and number of injection sites in the treated muscle will be chosen by your health care provider.

What can neuromodulators 
do?

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles to upper 1/3 of the face

  • Treat gummy smile

  • Facial slimming by treating the masseter muscle. This can also help with TMJ and clenching

  • Neck lifting effect by treating the platysmal bands

  • Excessive sweating to underarms, hands and feet

  • Lessen the amount of headaches/migraines a person may get

Downtime?

Recovery time is minimal. After treatment, its important to remain upright for four hours post tx and refrain from massaging the area. It is also recommended that you avoid intense exercise sessions for the first 24 to 48 hours to help minimize swelling and bruising. .

As with any type of neuromodulator, following treatment you may experience the following:

  • Mild swelling

  • Slight bruising at the injection site

  • Temporary redness

How many treatments?

Results last on average 3-4 months before repeat treatment is needed. Lines will continue to soften the more treatments you do.

After results are achieved, quarterly maintenance is recommended along with following a good medical grade skincare regime.
